Platelet Rich Plasma:

This is a very new method of skin rejuvenation where there is the biostimulation of the cells of the dermis using an injection technique which uses the patient’s own bioactive platelet rich plasma (PRP). The aim of these injections is to stimulate and regenerate aged and damaged skin and subcutaneous tissues.We basically remove around 12mls of blood per vial, centrifuge to remove the red blood cells and are left with Platelet Rich Plasma, which we then re-inject into areas to  rejuvenate the skin.

Platelets are cells in the blood which, when a blood vessel has been damaged, will initiate clotting and prevent further blood loss. It has now been found that platelets also trigger the repair process of the vessel by secreting cell signalling and growth factors. When we inject platelets into the skin for rejuvenation, we are taking advatage of these properties.
