1) What is it?
For many peaople unwanted or excessive hair can be a real problem.
Traditional methods such as waxing, shaving or plucking, can be very painful and not very permanant.
If this sounds like you, it may be time to consider Laser hair removal. Here at Alpha Cosmedic clinic
we use only the most up to date Laser technology to target and remove unwanted hair painlessly.
For the most effective, permanent hair reduction, we use etheir GentleLASE® or GentleYAG® lasers and hence can treat all skin types and colours.
The gentlelase is used for skin types 1-4 (lighter), and the gentleyag is used for skin types 4-6(darker). There are no messy gels and both have the largest “spot size” on the market, ensuring fast, cost efficient treatments. These are medical grade lasers and proven to be the most effective hair removal devices. They are not ipl ( intense pulsed light ), which tend to be less effective and more painful. There are many new cheap ipl machines coming from third world countries and they are not properly calibrated or are their power outputs consistant. Next time you have hair removal please ask if it is ipl.
2) Does it hurt?
Both the GentleLASE® and GentleYAG® lasers utilise the DCD™ SKIN COOLING spray. This is a unique technology only used by the candela lasers where a cooling cryogen is sprayed onto the skin prioir to and after the laser beam in a precise dose thereby maximising comfort and epidermal protection. This means that when you undergo a treatment it will be clean, virtually painless, and faster than other machines.
3) How many treatments will I need?
For most areas you will require 6-8 treatments, about 6 weeks apart.
4) Are there any side effects?
One problem that can occur is that some less experienced operators may use the wrong machine for your skin colour. This is especially important for those of you with darker skin types, in which case you will require a yag laser which has a higher frequancy than most standard hair removal lasers. Alpha Cosmedic clinic prides itself in having an experienced cosmetic physician onsite who can monitor your treatments and can advise you on which laser is the most appropriate for your skin type. Some patients complain of a slight sunburn sensation after treatment, but in general these treatments are safe and effective.
5) What type of hair can be treated?
All dark colour hair can be treated with these machines. Unfortunately there is no laser that can treat blond or grey hair.
