1) How does laser treatment for acne work?

Here at Alpha cosmedic clinic we use the Candela Smooth Beam laser to provide you with the best long term results
for acne eradication.Acne, or Acne Vulgaris, as it is medically called, is one of the most common skin problems people face. Caused by changing hormone levels and genetic disposition, it is most common in those with oily skins. Unlike other “light” therapies that temporarily kill bacteria, The Smoothbeam Laser targets water molecules in the skin and hence applies energy directly to where acne begins—the sebaceous glands.The Smoothbeam Laser employs a combination of laser light at 1450 nm and cryogen spray cooling to treat the dermis, sebaceous glands, and associated structures — without damaging the epidermis. The thermal injury alters the structure of the sebaceous glands, the rootcause of acne lesions, resulting in a dramatic and long-term reduction in acne lesions.

2) How many sessions do I require?

 Most patients will require 5 sessions, 2 weeks apart and wil  report an 83 % reduction in acne, with results lasting 18 months to 2 years.More severe cases may require 3 monthly touch ups.

To increase the effectiveness of the treatment we recommend microdermabrasion  prior to each smoothbeam treatment.

We charge $50 for microdermabrasion if performed with smoothbeam treatment.
